Tribute to Shah Rukh on his Sixtieth Birthday

On Shah Rukh Khan’s sixtieth birthday today there are volumes written literally everywhere on his stardom! Main point of his success as a star is his charm and the vulnerability that he portrays on screen. I was never a fan of Shah Rukh, but after watching his off screen presence and interviews, he does come off as real. On screen it seems to me that he was hamming a lot, especially when he had to act in a ‘sad scene’. He seemed more genuine in comic roles and definitely in his song-dance sequences.

As a tribute to Shah Rukh I repost two blogs I wrote:

On his film Jawan. The Economist in me was amazed at how the Director, Atlee, had picked hugely relevant economic issues and arrived at absurd solutions. https://jeemolunni.com/2023/09/30/jawan-solutions-for-the-common-man/

A second post was on a book by an Economist, apparently a fangirl of Shahrukh, titled ‘Desperately Seeking Shah Rukh’.
